How to Apply?

 

All University owned rentals have one-year fixed-term leases. An Clachan and John Orr Tower leases run from 3:00 p.m. September 1 to 12:00 p.m. (noon) August 31; CORE Property Group leases run from 3:00 p.m. May 1 to 12:00 p.m. (noon) April 30.  Tenants MUST re-apply and be offered a new lease each year (information on the re-application process is provided to tenants annually in November for Core Properties and in late February/early March for An Clachan and John Orr).

Students with Disabilities

If you are a student with a disability who has particular requirements with respect to housing, you are asked to contact the Associate Director of Community Housing with documentation pertaining to your condition and your requirements specifically with respect to living accommodation (please note it is not assumed that students who require disability-related accommodation in other areas of University life e.g., in the classroom will necessarily have special requirements related to housing). Please be specific and provide as many details as possible about your particular requirements e.g., needing to live on the first floor due to mobility impairment.

Community Housing will do its best to meet your needs. Please be aware however, that the aim of the disability accommodation process at Queen's is to help students with disabilities find living accommodation at the University that is most appropriate to their requirements, not to ensure their preference of living accommodation.

Early application for consideration of disability accommodation is essential. It may not be possible to meet accommodation requests made after these dates. Please contact our office to request an application form if you are applying for priority consideration due to disability accommodation.

An Clachan and John Orr Tower

Student families and couples are given priority* for space in An Clachan and John Orr Tower and single students are accommodated if space permits. Please note that John Orr Tower is a high rise apartment building with balconies and as such is not very well suited to accommodating children.

Student families and couples who apply by March 30 will be given priority for allocation for September lease starts. All other students (including sub-tenants) who are not currently on a lease as a tenant in An Clachan or John Orr Tower may apply for a September lease start for a unit in in these properties beginning April 1 for September lease starts (e.g. apply starting April 1, 2016 for a lease that begins on September 1, 2016); all applications for September lease starts that are received prior to April 1 will be treated as though they were received on April 1.  After this date, units will be allocated on a first come-first serve basis.

Only applications received from registered Queen's students will be processed. Please be sure to include your Queen's student number and a current email address on your application. We will send you an email to let you know that your application has been received. Successful applicants will be notified by email of rental offers beginning in May; please be sure to check your email regularly as there is a limited time frame in which to respond. If you have email filtering activated, please be sure to add community.housing@queensu.ca to your safe list.

Core Properties (Near Campus Neighbourhood)

Rental units in the Core are allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Units that will be available for May 1 will begin to be advertised in early December.
